SEWE

Each year the South Eastern Wildlife Exposition brings tourist, exhibits, and lots of animals to Charleston.  This year we took advantage of a few of the free events and headed downtown to see what the fuss was all about.

Our first stop was the dog handling show in Marion Square.  Several labs and golden retrievers participated in retrieving exercises.  There was 9 1/2 week old black lab who stole the show.  He did better than Bailey would have and she's nearly 3!  There were dogs all over the area.  We were happy to see a few black labs so he can start to understand that dogs come in more shapes, sizes and colors than Bailey and Gracie!  There were Golden puppies and Black Lab puppies for adoption.  As much as I would LOVE to cuddle with a little puppy, common sense kept me from wanting to bring one home!

In addition to the dogs, we saw snakes, alligators, and turtles.  Payton touched a 2 year old alligator and Mommy held the back end of a snake - I did not like it and declined on holding the whole snake.

While waiting for the Birds of Prey show, we made a quick lap through the petting zoo.  It makes me a little sad to know that Payton has to see goats and cows in a petting zoo but at least he has now been up close and personal!  We'll let him loose in the pasture at Uncle Hub's in a few months!  Payton enjoyed the bigger animals.  He also touched a goat and the horns of a water buffalo.  He wore his overalls for the occasion!  Next year, he'll need good camouflage to fit in a little more.
Grandma, Payton and Grandpa enjoy SEWE.  Grandma is a true lover of the outdoors! Ha!
Payton looks on as we see a bird demonstration.  We watched birds fly around and "hunt" prey.  It was actually very interesting and educational!

We'll definitely make more time to check out the Dock Dogs at SEWE next year!

Payton was so cute with all the animals. I know he had a great time I am just a little concerned about how much fun Grandma had! Love you all!

Payton looks good in Oshkosh. Malcolm would love Oshkosh and the pictures. Speaking of Payton I also have a Payton in my family.
