Happy 1st Birthday Payton!
As I attempted to think of a theme for Payton's 1st birthday, I thought about which baby-friendly theme would be best for Payton. After a little thought, I realized that only a sports related theme would be appropriate. Payton's favorite thing is balls. One of his first words was ball. Every single time he sees a ball or a basketball game on television or a basketball goal he quickly says "ball." The sports theme could not have been more appropriate and the miniature basketball for Payton's cake was absolutely perfect!
Chad's parents brought the big cake from Debbie in East Bend. It was very good! We just can't seem to find cakes this good here in the lowcountry!
My parents brought this cake from Shirley's in Newton. Shirley made all of my cakes growing up - including my personal 1st birthday cake! She has come "out of retirement" several times for me in the past few years! In my opinion, this was her best cake ever! Payton's very own basketball!
Mom, Dad and the Birthday Boy!
He had a wonderful day! He loved having so many family members here to celebrate his 1st birthday. He sure does like to be the center of attention!
Payton had already received this bubble machine from the Wingate family. He enjoyed watching the bubbles and took several steps toward the bubble machine.
Payton was so happy to see Ella at his party! Don't they both look great in Carolina blue? Ella may think she prefers that blue over Clemson orange! Ella will turn one on April 1st.
Party hats for all the kids! Carson, Chad and Calyn.
Payton looked around as everyone started singing Happy Birthday. He wasn't really sure what to do with everyone gathered around singing to him and staring at him.
It did not take him too long to dig in. This icing was not as soft as his first cake so it proved to be a little more difficult for him to get a big handful. He enjoyed taking little bites of icing! He loves icing just like his Mommy!
Now for a bite of cake!
The birthday boy has a big, messy smile for everyone! He needed a little milk to wash down the cake and icing and then Grandma started cleaning him up. Her favorite part...a very messy little boy! Payton and the high chair were covered with crumbs and orange icing!
Payton loved playing outside. He enjoyed watching the 1st Annual Webb Family Washer Tournament. Payton enjoyed walking on the blanket from person to person.
Milk break! The rain finally arrived. Payton enjoyed playing with Calyn and Carson while we cleaned up and prepared for presents and dinner. Payton looks like he is supervising Carson.
