37 weeks

37 weeks pregnant with Baby Boy #2

At 36 weeks, I wasn't sure I would make it to 37....but I did!  As 37 weeks rolled around, I was actually starting to feel much less like I was going to go into labor at any moment.  Unfortunately, over the past week I had picked up a terrible cold with sinus congestion and a terrible sore throat.  I was pretty miserable for about 1 entire week but I did my very best to carry on as usual.

On Wednesday, I made it to work for about 5 hours.  I still feel like I'm going to be leaving a terrible mess at work but I know it will all be taken care of while I'm away.

I went to my 37 week doctor's appointment on Wednesday afternoon.  Chad was able to go with me as well.  I think we were both expecting her to tell us that I had progressed further and that my C-section would have to be moved up.  Instead, I was just 1 cm.  Great news!  As a pediatric nurse I want this little guy to grow in me as long as he can - no matter what problems I may be having!

My blood pressure was great again.  I had not gained any weight in the last 3 weeks (yay!) but that was mostly due to the fact that I felt terrible and had NO appetite for nearly an entire week.  My appetite is slowing coming back so I may have gained a few pounds before my 38 week appointment.

She asked me to continue my limited activity - working from home as much as possible.  She also gave me a prescription for reflux (this finally started working on Friday night) and an antibiotic for my terrible cold (which has also started working now).

At 37 weeks and 4 days - I'm actually feeling pretty great!  I am still trying to limit my activity - I have a huge increase in contractions when I don't.  Lifting Payton nearly always causes a set of contractions.  I still have very little swelling - even in these 90 degree days.  I do have an increase in pressure again which had gone away for about a week. I've had to cut back on doing some things that I really hope to get done around the house but I know the baby will be better off if I just sit down and take it easy most of the time!

The bad news is that Chad and Payton have been sick since yesterday.  Chad seems to have picked up my sore throat and Payton has some nasty drainage from him ear and has been intermittently fussy.  I hope they both feel better ASAP!  I don't ever want them to be sick but its especially difficult when I'm thinking I could go into labor any given minute!

I don't go back to the doctor until Thursday this week.  I'll be anxiously awaiting my exam this week!
