The big event!

Shortly after finishing my last post, I started putting out my Halloween decorations. Payton was fussy and rubbing his eyes so I decided to lay him in his crib for a brief nap. We had plans to meet Andrew and Laura for dinner at 7:00. After a few minutes, he started crying. Like normal, I waited several minutes before going to check on him. After I realized he was starting to scream, I headed upstairs. When I rounded the corner to the nursery, my "little baby" was standing up with his chin over the top of the crib rail. I screamed and ran over to him. He was happy and started smiling! Upon further inspection, I also found that Payton had chewed on the top of the crib rail and left several teeth marks....he must not realize how hard his grandpa worked on each piece of word and how long it took him to find the perfect stain for the crib....Payton put his mark on the crib in just a few seconds. Even Bailey never chewed on our furniture! Like my Nannie Helen's bedroom furniture, I guess it just adds character! Chad and I immediately began lowering the mattress. While we worked on the mattress, Payton continued to crawl all over the nursery floor...from the blanket to the chair to the crib to the CD player and back again! In the midst of the excitement, Chad looked at me and said, "Our lives have changed!" How right he is...and truly, it happened in just one day! He may be able to stand up in the crib now, but he will have to learn to climb before he can get out! I fear he may be climbing early next week! Needless to say, thanks to my "little baby," it was a stressful hour! We made it to dinner 45 minutes late but my Halloween decorations are still scattered around my living room. We'll see if I can accomplish that tomorrow...Payton may have other plans again!
