Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Meme and Pawpaw were here for one of the worst rainy days ever!! George and Cathy were here with Rusty and Donna. Rusty and Donna had never been to Charleston before so we were hoping to take them sightseeing. Friday morning we planned to tour downtown Charleston. We had heard they were calling for rain but hoped it was hold off long enough for us to get a quick tour. It didn't. It started raining around 10 am and finally stopped sometime after mid-night. We got around 6 inches of rain. I have never seen so much water. Many roads and yards near our house were full of water. Downtown was eventually closed with major flooding.

We braved the storm throughout the day. We made it to Poogan's porch Friday for lunch. It was very good as usual. We did get wet. I quickly learned that its difficult to manage an umbrella, a carseat with a baby, and try to dodge the rain. Thankfully, Payton did manage to stay pretty dry. Due to the rain, Rusty and Donna decided to head back to NC in the afternoon. They were smart to do so!! Friday night, we again headed out in the rain to eat. We wanted to go to one of our favorite pizza places here in Mt. Pleasant. After driving 30 mph the entire way through massive amounts of water, we made it! It just continued to rain and rain and rain!

Meme and Pawpaw brought Payton several gifts which he opened on Friday. Payton enjoyed opening his Halloween food treats, a Thanksgiving outfit that says he is "thankful for mommy," and an adorable Christmas outfit and bib! Mommy tried to teach Payton how to rip the paper to get the gifts open. We're getting him ready for Christmas! Thanks Meme and Pawpaw for the great gifts!

Calyn sent Payton a gift as well. She is always so thoughtful. She has used her own money to buy Payton so many gifts. Payton was happy to see the new outfit she bought for him. It has suddenly turned cold here in Charleston so we will be waiting until Spring to wear this one! Thanks Calyn!
