....other than the cake....

The birthday cake may have been my focus for the party but it certainly was not the only piece that made the day extra special.  As mentioned earlier, we spent Saturday watching Payton play t-ball, spending time at the beach and celebrating at our house.  Chad's family arrived around 3:15 and the annual Washer Tournament started shortly after.  Of course we all watched a little basketball as well!

I used an old Curious George "Happy Birthday" sign and added a few special touches to make this a Fresh Beat Band birthday party.  In case you aren't familiar with the Fresh Beats, the guy pictured above is Shout - one of the 4 band members.

Payton was excited to finally see his cake!

Before we could have cake, everyone spent several hours outside.
The little kids played ball...

....while the big kids played the Washers game.
The objective of the washers game is to throw a metal washer (hence the name) into a cylinder that happens to be in the middle of a wooden square.  You could compare it to horseshoes or corn hole....kinda.

Brandon gave Payton one of his presents a little early.   Its hard to tell in the picture - but, at the very top there is an orange "rocket" flying through the air.  Brandon and the kids loved the rocket and enjoyed jumping on it to see who could make it go the highest.

 JUMP AROUND!
Another reason I love my camera - yes, I caught Payton in the air!!  This kid is going to have an awesome vertical jump one day!!

Meme and Owen....cheese!
After playing outside we enjoyed hot beefy dip, BBQ, baked beans, BBQ slaw, and chips.  It was the perfect meal for me - it was tasty and easy!  I loved being able to sit back, relax and watch everyone enjoy the afternoon.
