On Sunday March 18th we celebrated with a BIG Rock Star celebration on IOP. The rain threatened to ruin our party....but we were were spared and we had a great time with all our little rock stars!| Payton with Grandpa and Grandma |
| Payton and Owen with Meme and Grandma... I seem to have missed a shot of Pawpaw at the Rock Star party. He must have been too busy jammin'! |

For this party, I ordered cupcakes from the local Publix bakery. They were chocolate and vanilla, iced with cream cheese icing, topped with primary colored sprinkles and finished with Fresh Beat Band toothpicks. I made the toothpick decorations at home - there are no Fresh Beat party decoration available for purchase so I had to put pull out the glue stick and get to work - they were perfect - and Payton was happy to see Twist and Shout at his party!
The table...before the rain...it was moved 3 times after this!

After lots of running, swinging and pretending we moved on to cake....everyone's favorite part of a party!

They are true examples of Rock Stars...right??

We had a blast and the party - and it was just perfect - just enough pre-planning and just enough luck (with the rain coming early and staying away til the end of the party) for each of us to enjoy all parts of the party. We had a little over 20 kids - from 6 months to 5 years - and a great time was had by all.....especially the birthday boy!
He asked me today who would come to his party this Sunday - which is his actual birthday - I told him Grandma was coming - he asked who else - I reminded him that we had celebrated with his party last Sunday. This doesn't seem to satisfy him! He reminded that his birthday is on the 25th and that party was on the 18th....maybe he can scroll back through the pictures to remind him how much fun he had!?!?! We've got a pretty awesome present for him on Sunday...hopefully his present will make his day complete.
Following his party, we opened his gifts - we had already planned to donate his gifts to the children at the Children's Hospital at MUSC. We had planned to let Payton choose 3 gifts to keep for himself and the rest would go to the hospital. He agreed with this plan and I was VERY impressed with how well he did. Presents I thought he would fight to keep he politely put into the pile for the "sick kids." We ended up with this:
| This light saber will make a kid at the hospital very happy - Payton did a great job of putting this in the hospital pile! |
The kids at the hospital will get:
This is full of about 15 different gifts. Thanks to all of our friends who helped us with our plan to donate gifts to the hospital. I know personally how much these gifts will change the course of a child's hospital stay. I'm fortunate enough to pass these out about once a week to my kids in my CF clinic - mostly coloring books and crayons in the clinics - but those kids smiles melt my heart! I'm so happy to be able to help out just a little more....especially when I know I'll be helping kids who are just about Payton's age. Most of these are perfect for little boys! Thanks everyone!
The "keep" pile looks like this:
Yes, it is bigger than the hospital pile, but most of these are from family and they also did a great job of giving practical gifts for Payton. We got some awesome new outside toys (including that nice Carolina Blue basketball....thanks Ansen and Sully!) and an awesome football (thanks Holman!). He got a Spiderman mask, car, movie and book...he is so happy with these! He got an outside Frisbee golf game and horseshoes. His 1st set of baseball cards and a great puzzle. Its hard to see but there is also a huge pile of summer clothes and some new big boy underwear (boxer briefs is what we're into these days!). Thank you to all of our family members. The gifts were wonderful and we appreciate each of them!
Favorite gift of the year....quite possibly this Carolina Blue ball...and Owen likes to fight him for it!
| Baseball cards and some really cool shades! |
Spiderman says thanks again for an awesome birthday weekend....he's ready to do it all again this weekend!
