Simply Saturday

Today was a great Saturday....we were active, we got to enjoy the great outdoors, we enjoyed time with friends, had great food, did a little shopping and took a really long nap....all four of us...and it felt great!

We started our day off with Payton's 3rd T-ball game.  I have to admit that I missed most of the practice and first part of the game because I went for a walk with 2 other "Blue Team Mommies!"  I hate I missed the action but the exercise was nice and it worked perfectly for little Owen.  He was much more content going for a walk in the stroller than he would have been sitting and watching Payton's game (while note being allowed to participate).  The exercise was also important because I ate terribly for the rest of the day!

After the game, we quickly changed clothes and loaded up for a small road trip.  We headed up to Pawley's Island to meet Kade and MM for lunch.  They were in MB for the weekend.  Lunch was great and we enjoyed having a little time to visit with them.  Of course, our previous plans would have lead us all to New Orleans and the Final Four for the weekend.....Pawley's wasn't exactly what we had previously hoped for....as there is no Carolina blue on Burbon Street this weekend.  Since the Heels didn't make it we continued with life as planned.  We were lucky that "life as planned" added a trip to Pawley's to enjoy lunch with friends.  We were seated outside...far away from other guests... and despite Owen's refusal to sit in a high chair, the kiddos were mostly well behaved.  The food was great and the company was even better.  Hopefully we'll get to see Kade and MM again soon....hopefully for a nice kid free vacation sometime in the near future!!!

Following lunch, we headed back home - we bypassed a trip to T@rget so the kids could get a nap - and we ended up snoozing right along with them.  We all took an extra long nap and it felt great!  I can't even remember the last time I took a nap.  I know they say you can't "make up for lost sleep" but today, I gave it my best effort!

After our long nap, we made our necessary trip to T@rget and ended the night with our favorite Mexican restaurant.  It was a late dinner and I was worried about how Owen would behave.  He amazed us and jumped right into his high chair.  He devoured chicken, rice and craisins!

The kids are back asleep and we've just finished watching the 2nd game of the semi-finals.  Kansas and Kentucky will play in the National Championship game.....barf.  I'll be pulling for um....nobody.  I should probably pull for Kansas since our friend Hilary is there for the game but I just can't do it.  I should probably pull for UK since my co-worker and friend is an alumni and she's nice to me throughout basketball season, but I probably won't.  Monday night seems like the perfect night to leave the TV off!  I hate to be a bitter fan but at least I recognize my personal problems.

Tomorrow will be an exciting day - we'll be enjoying Palm Sunday at church, heading to a birthday party in the afternoon and anxiously awaiting the arrival of a few of our favorite people - Chandra, Allen, KK and Carson will be here late tomorrow night - and we are all so excited!

As for birthday celebrations - we've got a few for today!

Happy Birthday to Marty!!  We miss you and hope to see you soon!

Happy Birthday to Allen!!  and, to his brother Kenny...and to his Dad, Lloyd.  How crazy is that!?!?  3 on one day!
