Walking for Water

Its that time of year again...The Webb Family will be participating in the Water Missions International Charleston Walk for Water.

Every day millions of women and children in developing countries walk nearly 4-6 miles to retrieve water to meet their family’s daily needs. On average they carry 5 gallons of water which weighs 42 pounds. During the approximately 3.5 mile Walk for Water, we will have the opportunity to carry a bucket of water to symbolize that trek that so many people make each day to collect water in developing countries.

Water Missions International is a Christian Engineering ministry providing sustainable safe water solutions to people in developing countries and disaster areas. Since 2001, Charleston-based Water Missions International has served more than two million people in 49 countries worldwide. These safe water solutions bring immediate and lasting benefits in health, dignity, education, productivity, and income generation to some of the world’s most marginalized and forgotten people.

The next time you flush a toilet, get a sip of water, or take a shower please remember those who lack access to safe water and sanitation. We can be the difference for so many!
Walk for Water 2011
This will be our 3rd year participating in the walk.  Our church is participating again this year and as a church we have been asked to collect change as part of the fundraising efforts.  We have a large bottle at home collecting spare change.  Payton is really in to adding change to the bottle this year!

If you would like to learn more about this amazing organization, please take a minute to check out their website here.

We would LOVE for you to support us as we raise money for Water Missions.  If you would like to support our efforts, please click here.  Even if it is only $5....every little bit counts!

You may also want to look back at our thoughts on the walk last year.   Drink it up!
