Madness!

It was a basketball day around here just as predicted!  Unfortunately, the Heels lost to FSU in the ACC Championship game.  My blood pressure and heart rate both went through the roof!  I can't say I was shocked.  FSU is a good team, they already handed us a 33 point loss once this season and they have a great coach.  I'm actually happy to see "other" teams succeed in the ACC...I'll always pull for the Heels but I would love to see someone other than Duke as our greatest competition each year.  I do hope that the loss gave them a little gut check and shocked them into Championship mode for the real deal!  They can always use a little more "umph" and good 'ole Roy...well, he could go ahead and draw up some late game plays that work better than the last few I've seen.  I'm certainly no coach and I really don't like to talk badly about those in the profession....but, sometimes his decisions really made me yell, scream and hit things (only the couch!!).  Seeing that he's a Hall of Fame coach, he must be a great coach, he IS a great coach - but sometimes I just wonder what exactly he might be thinking near the end of the game.  Oh the questions I would ask him if left alone in a room for just five minutes.....Roy is a good coach, but I can't help that I grew up watching the Heels under the direction of Dean Smith.  Dean Smith was a basketball mastermind, especially in late game situations.  I always trusted Dean Smith.  I never counted the Heels out until the buzzer sounded.  With Coach Smith, they always made great late game runs....I hope I can say the same for Roy before he retires from the game.  I hope he can prove me wrong sometime over the next 3 weekends....Go Heels!

Also predicted....the Heels were "robbed" in the selection of brackets....not my words of course, but I heard it more than once this afternoon.  As soon as we discovered we were in the Midwest region with Kansas as our number 2 seed, we quickly realized that we would have to play Kansas on their own turf, giving the Jayhawks a chance to play what will basically be a home game.  This prompted me to point out to my loving spouse that the Heels had just played "basically a home game" in Atlanta with a sea of Carolina Blue in the stands....didn't seem to help our play today.  Overall, I think the brackets are pretty good....I'm not really looking forward to facing Kansas at any point.  68 teams for now, 1 final Champion...the Heels should be able to make a good run for it but, this is March Madness and anything can happen!  I hope Johnny and Hilary can survive another UNC vs KU matchup....should be Johnny's turn to win...fingers crossed!

In the South region, I think the potential Duke vs Xavier match-up could be interesting and I would like to see Indiana face UK again...have to pull for the Zeller family!  I'm also interested in UConn.

In the West, I think Michigan St will ultimately make it to the Final Four....though I despise them....mostly because of their rude fans!  I'll be pulling for UVA against Florida.

The East, watch out for Florida State...I would not want to meet them again this year but after proving they could beat both Duke and UNC...twice...they've got my attention.  At the start of the season, I picked Ohio State as a front runner.  Other than Florida State, I would have to go with Ohio State.  Ohio State over Syracuse, unless FSU knocks the Buckeyes out 1st.

In the Midwest, I will of course have to pick my Heels...but, I don't like the fact that we may be seeing Kansas, Georgetown or NCSU anywhere in our near future!!  I'm so happy NCSU made it to the big dance but I surely wouldn't want to play them again.  I pick NCSU over San Diego State but I think Georgetown will knock them off to advance to the sweet 16.
